Senate Democrats
Mazie Hirono
“
Filling an Empty Supreme Court Seat in an Election Year
“Judge Garland’s character and record of judicial service are impressive, and Americans deserve to hear from him in a public Judiciary Committee hearing. In the Senate’s history of holding public confirmation hearings, the majority party has never before denied a Supreme Court nominee a hearing and vote. It’s been more than two months since the President did his job by nominating Judge Garland, and it’s far past time for my Republican colleagues to do their job by holding a hearing and vote on the nomination.” 1
Court Packing
“[Court packing] is long overdue court reform as far as I’m concerned, and I have been thinking about court reform and what we can do regarding the Supreme Court to make it so much more objective. This is not something that a lot of us have not thought about. But on the other hand, after the election we only have a serious discussion about any of these things if the Democrats take back the Senate.” 2
Statement from A3P Founder Mike Davis
“For the past fifty years, Democrats have debased themselves in Supreme Court confirmation hearings with childish antics, character assassinations, and straight up defamation. Mazie Hirono has taken that to a whole new level, as demonstrated by her lack of knowledge of the Constitution and her bigotry towards Catholic nominees. The fact is, Mazie Hirono is an anti-Catholic bigot and Hawaiians deserve to know just how pathetic a Senator she is.”
