Senate Democrats

Kamala Harris

Statement from A3P Founder Mike Davis:

“For the past fifty years, Democrats have debased themselves in Supreme Court confirmation hearings with childish antics, character assassinations, and straight up defamation. Kamala Harris has taken that to a whole new level with her aggressive anti-Catholic bigotry during Judiciary Committee hearings. Meanwhile, as we have seen repeatedly in debates, Harris’s knowledge of the issues is barely surface-deep. We expect Constitutional law scholar and 7th Circuit Judge Amy Coney Barrett to demonstrate to the country why Harris flunked the bar exam.”

  • Harris has not signed the Article VI Pledge to refrain from a religious test on Amy Coney Barrett.

What else you should know about Kamala Harris:

  • When asked directly by Vice President Mike Pence whether a Biden Administration would pack the Supreme Court, Harris refused to answer multiple times.4
  • Senator Harris “defended Johnny Baca’s conviction for murder even though judges found a prosecutor presented false testimony at the trial. She relented only after a video of the oral argument received national attention and embarrassed her office.”5
  • “Ms. Harris was criticized in 2010 for withholding information about a police laboratory technician who had been accused of ‘intentionally sabotaging’ ‘her work and stealing drugs from the lab. After a memo surfaced showing that Ms. Harris’s deputies knew about the technician’s wrongdoing and recent conviction, but failed to alert defense lawyers, a judge condemned Ms. Harris’s indifference to the systemic violation of the defendants’ constitutional rights.’6
  • In 2007, Harris prosecuted a man named Jamal Trulove for murder. He was eventually exonerated. News outlets described the case like this: “Police and prosecutors framed a father of four in a 2007 murder case with local and national political implications.”7
  • In the late 1990s and early 2000s, Harris prosecuted a man named Daniel Larsen for murder. In 2009, a federal magistrate judge said that the matter was one of those “extraordinary cases where the petitioner asserts his innocence and establishes that the court cannot have confidence in the contrary finding of guilt.” Despite Harris fighting to keep Larsen in prison for 28 years to life because he missed a procedural deadline in filing his appeal, the Ninth Circuit eventually ordered Larsen released because he had cleared the threshold for producing proof of innocence.8
  • As California Attorney General, “she opposed a bill requiring her office to investigate shootings involving officers. And she refused to support statewide standards regulating the use of body-worn cameras by police officers.”9
  • In a 2018 hearing, Harris asked Ronald Vitiello, President Trump’s nominee to lead ICE, if Vitiello was “aware” of any “parallels” between ICE and the KKK.10
  • During the Democrat presidential primary debates, Harris said that she would give Congress 100 days “to get their act together and have the courage to pass reasonable gun safety laws, and if they fail to do it, then I will take executive action.”11
  • Harris opposed the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which would have protected infants who survive a botched abortion.12
